I have heard that the floated idea of applying GST to overseas purchases has not been proposed in the budget.
Yay!
Watched the ABC News’ Business program last night, where a panel of four small business representatives were being interviewed. One who had a shoe business complained that his competitors were no longer local, but international. He also said that people could buy cheaper from overseas, but this would take jobs away from Australians.
Why don’t Australian businesses (and Gerry Harvey) actually talk about how to ‘pull their socks up’, and actually compete to keep their sales instead of just complaining??
