Fire Stick & streaming Stan

Hi “Choicers”,
Please bear with the “technical” idiot here…
I use a fire stick (which replaced my Telstra tv little box) along with a Telstra modem and NBN boxes. With the fire stick I have no issues streaming binge at all. With Stan it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. During the latter I click on the show I want to watch and the little ring that spins, just keeps spinning. I’ve been going to and fro with Stan trying to sort it out with them telling me other people also have this issue using the fire stick. They got me to power up (unplug my modem, tv and fire stick), wait three minutes and then plug all back in. After doing this it works well but once I’ve not streamed for a few days it happens again. Stan suggested doing that all the time but I was concerned that that may damage my tv, modem or fire stick. Stan said it won’t but I’m still unsure. Stan finally suggested that I use a Google Chrome cast, which in its self has reviews that aren’t great. Basically I’d just like to know why I can stream binge and not Stan if anyone knows please? Don’t hit me with a lot of technical speak (please) as I don’t understand it and it does my head in. Thankyou Choicers, your opinions are appreciated.

Just a general opinion, since I have no experience with either Firestick or Stan steaming.

Some applications are very good, and it seems that Binge is, and some are ‘buggy’ in that they sometimes work, and sometimes fail. As with Stan.

If the Stan support solution seems to be power off and reset the device to get things working, then that suggests they have no software solution. Yet. Maybe they do, and an uninstall and reinstall of the Stan app will load a newer version. With some fixes. There may be an update option, which would do the same thing.

Worth a try.

Hi Greg,
Thankyou. A friend of mine came over and we did uninstall and reinstall the app (I forgot we did that), as with turning things off and on, that solved the issue but only until I didn’t stream for a few days. It’s annoying as they are the only place I can watch a series that I am very addicted to, which is streaming new episodes currently. I did get one months free subscription from them while we were trying to sort the problem out, which was nice. Hopefully if they’re able to it might get fixed in the future?
Have a good afternoon.

In addition to solutions indicated above , Stan website provides some standard troubleshooting solutions for buffering issues…

While it relates to Android devices, there are some additional troubleshooting options which might also work on the firestick…

If you have a smart TV, have you investigated to see if the TV supports the Stan App. This might also be exploring if it does…
