Domain Registrars and Registrations

Net Registry has been dodgy for years. Does MelbourneIT stil own it or was it sold and thats when it went dodgy? I can’t remember. I had a domain with them back in 1998 I think it was but at years end, moved it to a friend’s registry in the USA… went through a few but eventually and finally ended up with VentraIP and Zuver, both of which were decidedly un-dodgy.

If you have registered your own domain, time is running out to register yourdomain.au. You have until the 20 September to have exclusive right to yourdomain.au.

While it may be seen as an opportunity to make more money from those who have registered domains, no doing so may give grief if your .au domain is one registered by someone for the wrong reasons…

The whole thing is an absolute scam.

I voted against it. (That was years ago of course.)

Of course the registrations in the new domain could have been restricted to exclude copying any existing .com.au or .net.au domain prefix. IE to head the scammers and opportunists off at the pass.

But then, it may have failed to deliver as you noted,
