Dodgy sales of life insurance lead to $1.5m in refunds

ClearView will issue $1.5 million in refunds to 16,000 customers and will no longer offer direct life insurance after ASIC’s enforcement action.

This seems to have largely flown under the radar, but reinforces that no salesperson nor company can be trusted to always provide a fair deal.

They trusted Westpac. Westpac gouged them. They went for it. Was that really Westpac’s fault?

There has to be a case for financial literacy to be introduced into the standard high school curriculum, but guess who has their backs up at the idea?
