The garments were previously the subject of recalls on 22 October 2015 (PRA2015/14946), 23 February 2017 (PRA2017/15914) and 2 June 2019 (PRA2019/17548) for failing to meet the mandatory standard for children’s nightwear burning behaviour requirements.

What are the defects?

The garment does not comply with the requirements of the mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear and Paper Patterns for Children’s Nightwear) Safety Standard 2017’.

The garment burns too quickly to be considered safe and does not meet the fibre content requirements.

What are the hazards?

The garment may pose a risk of serious burns or death to the wearer.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return the garment to Designworks for a full refund.

An article regarding testing of the product by the ACCC and their disappointment that it was still being sold 5 years after the problem was identified.

And a previous recall for the same item supplied by a different company.
