Identifying features
What are the defects?
The products do not comply with the mandatory standard ‘Consumer Good (Basketball Rings and Backboards) Safety Standard 2017’.
The products were not supplied with the required warning labels and installation instructions.
What are the hazards?
Users are not aware of safety precautions, there is a risk of injury to the user if the products are not installed correctly or if the user swings off the basketball ring.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should stop using the products and contact Decathlon to arrange for a copy of the warning label and assembly instructions to be provided. Consumers will be requested to provide Decathlon with a photograph of the attached label to ensure that the label has been attached correctly. Alternatively the products may be returned to the nearest Decathlon store for a full refund.
