What are the defects?
The outer section of the front grille air deflectors could detach partially or entirely from the inner section of vehicle. Clips could slowly detach due to the wind loads that arise during operation.
What are the hazards?
If the clips of the front grille air deflectors break, the outer section may completely detach from the vehicle increasing the risk of injury or an accident to other road users.
What should consumers do?
Owners will be contacted to advise them of the recall and that parts are not yet available to conduct a repair. Until parts are available, drivers should perform visual inspections of the front grille as part of their daily departure check routine (see ‘Front grille air deflectors check guide’ below). If the vehicle fails the inspection, owners are requested to remove the air deflectors immediately and contact an authorised Daimler Truck and Bus dealership.
Once parts are available, owners will be contacted again to arrange a mutually convenient time for a free of charge repair at any authorised Daimler Truck and Bus dealership.
