Tannin has a low pH, so anything mildly alkaline will dissolve it. Household bleach works, but it’s wise to neutralise the taste with vinegar if using the cleaned utensil with food.

They say be careful not mix bleach woth vinegar. Apparently gives off gas
Must be what my dog has been drinking.
Not methane, but chlorine gas with is not good for inhalation…
