A friend who lives in Canberra but was brought up in Perth, comes over every year for a school reunion and then drives south to Bunbury (where he went to school) and then to Margaret River to see us. However he has just told me that since he recently turned 80, he can’t find a car hire company that will hire him a vehicle. Is this a blanket restriction, or are there some companies that will hire vehicles to seniors, perhaps for a surcharge?

This may not be definitive, but it seems it is up to rental companies.
