Breakfast. To Eat Or Not To Eat?

You have to break your fast sometime after sleeping.

And that first meal has more than one purpose:

  • help regulate levels of sugars and insulin in the blood
  • provide energy for muscle and brain activities after you wake up
  • foods contain contain fluids (needed because your kidneys resume normal output levels when you stop sleeping)
  • encourage gut & bowel motility (avoiding constipation)

So even if if there is a study that disputes the “skipping breakfast is bad because going hungry then makes you eat poorly later on, and eating wrongly leads to putting on weight” rationale there are many other good reasons to ‘break your fast’
