Bluetooth tracker review

We’ve released our latest Bluetooth tracker review (member content), or see our buying guide for general tips to help you find the best Bluetooth tracker.

If you use a Bluetooth tracker, tell us about your experience in the comments.

One important element to Bluetooth tracker performance is the range, here’s what we found during the testing process:

The shortest indoor range we found was about six metres, but most of the trackers managed much better, with many performing at ranges of up to 20 metres.

The same test is also conducted on a sporting field outdoors with no obstructions. The shortest outdoor range we found was only about nine metres, but most of the trackers managed much better, with many performing at ranges of about 80 metres and a few still finding the tracker at distances well over 100 metres.

An interesting addition to Choice’s review is I would be holding off buying a Bluetooth tracker is one plans to buy one for the sole purpose of tracking luggage. There has been reports that their use within the airline industry is under review and it is possible in the future that they may be ‘banned’ from use in carryon or cargo luggage.

Some airlines have banned them, while others have flip-flopped in relation to their policy on such devices.
