People should be aware that real auditions do not require pay to play. Seems there are still many enterprising scammers who bring in the rubes and fleece them.

Of course. There is a copious supply of gullible and or stupid people willing to pay for goods and services of little or no use.
And businesses will exploit that.
Hopefully once duped most consumers will learn. Some never do.

That’s likely most of us.
Of course we have evolved different methods of reasoning as to why we really need an expensive V8 powered shopping trolley or $100k 4WD to do the school run.
For those who are less financially able, perhaps the prospect of offering one’s self or children a better future, where there is little else on offer appeals?
We can all be vulnerable to a great many influences over which we excise little control. The prospect of euphoria over seeing our favourite footy team live is short lived. It saves but one true purpose - the wealth of the sports business empires and the attached marketing opportunities. Gullible and stupid if one wastes good money on a ticket, and also pays for beer and pies at champagne and caviar prices might also apply? IMO.
