13/1300 number costs for bundles and mobiles unfair

Because we have severe health issues we use Telstra for our home phone service (priority assistance). With our phone service we receive a $10 a month credit that is used towards any 13, 1300 and other charged calls. We find that we almost invariably do not exceed this $10 limit so our costs are generally only the normal service costs. It however would be extra nice if the $10 would/could also be used against our Silent Number fee (Telstra currently do not allow it to be used for this or other service additions).

We have the same problem with iinet where our back to base alarm regularly rings the 1300 number. It really adds a lot to the cost of having the alarm operating.

Hold onto your pocketbook as you are privileged to get NBN services. Unless you were fortunate to get the FTTP with a landline option and battery, you will not have back to base service from FTTN, HFC, or any other alphabet type service. Options are to buy an IP capable panel that can easily be subverted by cutting the all so obvious NBN connection, or to go with a mobile back to base service that requires new hardware (depending on the vintage of your alarm, can be $400) to use mobile services, with monitoring costs going from roughly $35 p.m.+4 x 1300 call charges to $75 p.m. The better solutions have Telstra and Optus SIMs and report daily instead of weekly to help justify the cost increase. BOHICA!
